{"id":171,"date":"2016-08-05T20:45:16","date_gmt":"2016-08-05T19:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/?p=171"},"modified":"2016-08-05T21:16:22","modified_gmt":"2016-08-05T20:16:22","slug":"15-genoa-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/2016\/08\/05\/15-genoa-2\/","title":{"rendered":"(15) Genoa 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Really getting into this relaxed village life. &nbsp;We don&#8217;t have anything planned for today and I am reading a Wilber Smith novel, Birds of Prey. &nbsp;A bit of sitting around on the Poop deck reading. &nbsp;It is after noon before we head out. &nbsp;I need to find a ATM machine. &nbsp; I had spotted a Barclays Bank which was on our list of friendlies but it was not to be. &nbsp;It refused and said the service I wanted, &#8220;Cash&#8221; was not available. &nbsp;We ended up going to our French Bank which happily took care of our needs.<\/p>\n<p>We stopped at a cafe for a Pesto Pasta and a coffee and then a beer. &nbsp;Sat there reading our books for awhile before walking on through some of the poorer quiet areas of the city before heading back to the waterfront. &nbsp;Sat under a tree for some more reading near a salt water swimming pool. &nbsp;It looked like a pool for the better off. &nbsp;Walked on and had a look at that sleak black yacht we had spotted from the water the day before, what a life for some.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-1836312094jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-1836312094jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-177 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\"\/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-2145031948jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-2145031948jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-173 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\"\/><\/a>More walking and a Roast Beef salad before returning to our lodgings with a bottle of wine.<\/p>\n<p>Friday &#8211; &nbsp;Our last day in Genoa, again not much planned and a storm promised. &nbsp;Stephen had sent us pictures and video of the boys sledging and having fun in the snow on the Tataka hills. &nbsp;There was a lot of it so a good storm must have passed through there.<\/p>\n<p>Well the promised storm came to nought just a few drops of rain that almost dried as they hit the ground. &nbsp;Went out and strolled around today as well. &nbsp;Looked at a couple of palaces and a Peggy Guggenheim photo exhibition. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-2137922239jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-2137922239jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179 alignnone size-full\" width=\"1512\" height=\"2016\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"img_container_1470428015752\" class=\"img_container\"><progress id=\"progress_1470428015752\" value=\"0.5\" class=\"wp_media_indicator\" contenteditable=\"false\"><\/progress><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-315070043jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hailes.co.nz\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-315070043jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 24px; font-size: 16px;\">Went up ascension (funicular) up to a high point and sat in a cool breeze with a couple of beers (Margaret was into the wines)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Without even trying tea cost us 50 Euros tonight. &nbsp;We shared a Anchovey antipasti, I had a pasta and Margaret had fish &amp;
